                                    Daniel Defoe was born in the city of London, England, in 1660, and he died in the same city on April 24, 1731. He is best known for his novel %u201cRobinson Crusoe,%u201d published in 1719, which is claimed to be the most translated book after the Bible. Among his other beloved works are %u201cMoll Flanders,%u201d published in 1722, and %u201cA Journal of the Plague Year.%u201d Defoe is recognized as one of the pioneers of the English novel, contributing to its popularity in Britain alongside names like Aphra Behn and Samuel Richardson. Writing political tracts and frequently encountering issues with authorities, Defoe spent a period in prison. His fresh ideas were valued by intellectuals and political leaders, who sometimes sought his counsel. Defoe was a prolific and versatile writer, producing over three hundred works on various subjects including politics, crime, religion, marriage, psychology, and the supernatural.
